Thanx for clearing that bit up with the translation Mr.Watson.Sorry AK,I wasn't trying to call you a liar, but it's not spelled out as 'Drilling' by letter. Now saying it means Drilling makes sense.Does anyone know what the 'Suhl' is at the end of 'Son'?
And no sir, I have not had the barrels(all 3 of them) off. I don't have it sitting in front of me,but if I'm not mistaken they're welded together or something. There's no real discernible seam between any of them.Again, this gun has not been worked over, tooled or modified in any way. It's only been shot once since WWII and that was 1 barrel with 1 12gauge shell 1 time. And it does not look like it was shot much before WWII. The rifling all the way down the lower barrel looks crisp enough to be new. I told Steve(my step dad) that I believed J.P. was the Sauer in SigSauer, was I wrong on that one????? I'm getting the idea that the '705' on the inside of the forearm is just an in-house part number.
Oh man, as I'm sitting here writing this,I just remembered AK said that they were frequently given to aircrews.....................and just before I left moms last night I said to Steve ' Boy!, Who ever owned this originally must have been really, really short.' It's starting to smell like AK was correct right out of the chute! As soon as I go back to moms I'm going to try and clean it up,find some suitable lighting and take a couple of pic.'s. But please keep an eye on this thread if you can. It's a little unfair to ask for blind appraisals.

- Item #: JP Sauer Royal Stock
J.P. Sauer & Sohn, a vintage 12 gauge side by side shotgun made in Germany in 1955. This is a very high grade scalloped box lock action. The exact model is not certain but it has been suggested that is is a special edition know as the 'Artemis Royal)' as it can be observed in well executed engraving on the trigger guard in gold leaf lettering 'AR' - All serial numbers match - The action has still extremely tight lock up with cocking indicators, dual locking lugs side clips and top lever still very much to the right of center. Coin finished aged patina with deep cut floral and arabesque engraving. The barrels are fluid steel / nitro proofed and are 28' in length with two ivory beads, choked half and full choke. It has the original 70mm / 2 3/4' chambers with tight forcing cones ideal for smokeless cartridges loaded with fiber wads (the ammunition produced at that time) rather than our contemporary plastic shotcups. It can neverthless be safely used with any 2 3'4' modern 12 gauge shells. It has absolutely mirror bores. The stock and fore-end have have tight well executed checkering still very raised and crisp with pistol grip and black corditte Sauer butt pad. It has very nice European walnut with reddish tint and dark veins producing some nice figure and a beautifully carved cheek piece. This gun is in overall very nice original condition - worthy of full collector restoration. It was frequently used for upland bird hunting and exhibits various handling marks typical of field conditions. Low reserve price is in keeping with the present condition of this shotgun.

NO RESERVE!! Here's a very nice, very high quality German made Side-by-Side shotgun. Manufactured by Sauer, this is a 'Royal' model. It is chambered for 12-gauge shells, it has 2-3/4' chambers, and wears barrels that measure 28-5/16' in length. Marked for Full Choke and Half Choke (modified). It features double triggers, automatic ejectors, and cocking indicators. The walnut stocks have skip-line checkering, a small cheek piece, and factory swivels. Overall condition is excellent and it appears that this gun is virtually unused/unfired. Everything works properly and the gun is as tight as new. Bores are mirror bright. The finish is in very good shape and all original. There are a few small spots of surface on the barrel from long storage but only very minimal fine pitting. The stocks are free of any cracks or chips and show only light handling wear. The original buttplate is undamaged. According to the proofs, this high quality shotgun was manufactured back in 1960.
